9to5Mac reported yesterday that hackers had compromised an EA Games server and were using it to host a phishing site that steals Apple ID’s and more! Netcraft, an online security firm had this to say;
A phishing site being hosted on EA’s servers not only asks for an Apple ID and password but also the user’s “full name, card number, expiration date, verification code, date of birth, phone number, mother’s maiden name, plus other details that would be useful to a fraudster.”
Netcraft also reported that EA Games is being targeted in other phishing attacks that are attempting to steal user data from its Origin game distribution service.
Following the news EA have said they would investigate the issue but it’s apparently fixed now. If you think this might have happened make sure there are no strange charges on your Credit Card. If there is, please get in contact with the relevant parties to resolve this issue ASAP!
